This is a no reserve penny auction for an Imperial German Spandau Gewehr 1888 bolt-action rifle in 8mm Mauser. Serial number- 307D. This rifle features an excellent bore, and was manufactured in 1895. The Gewehr 88 (commonly called the Model 1888 commission rifle) was a late 19th-century German bolt-action rifle, adopted in 1888. Manufactured in the Royal Arsenal at Spandau in 1895, the Model 1888 was designed for newer smokeless powder cartridges, referred to as the 'M/88'. The bolt-action design was a significant upgrade from the single-shot rifles previously employed, making this rifle an embodiment of the peak of late 19th-century armament technology.

<br />Please refer to the photos as the rifle appears to have been refinished, and hairline cracks are seen in multiple locations on the stock. In addition, dents are seen on the end of the barrel near the muzzle. They do not appear to have made it through to the bore.
