This is a no reserve penny auction for a Remington Rand M1911A1 semi-automatic pistol in .45 ACP. Serial number-1944849. This pistol is in great condition for its age and was manufactured in 1944. The bore is in excellent condition. Starting production in 1942, this version as noted by the serial number and the NON-underlined "No." before the serial number, is part of the line Remington Rand had made to be more interchangeable to the other 1911's in production as its earlier production line was not interchangeable with other brands parts to suit the U.S military's needs.

<br />Stamps: "FJA" Ordnance inspector’s mark of Col. Frank J. Atwood. Lt. Col. Frank J. Atwood was the U.S. Army Ordnance officer in charge of war production in the Rochester district of New York from 1942 to 1946 at both the Remington Rand and Ithaca factories. Has two "P" proof marks near mag release and on top of the slide, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY NO. 1944849" and "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" on the right side of the frame.
