This is a no reserve penny auction for a US Remington 03-A3 Sporterized bolt-action rifle in .30-06 Springfield Serial number – 3912521. This rifle was purchased as a surplus rifle after WWII and sporterized. Often people did not want to carry a battle rifle on hunting trips and robust battle stock was no longer needed. New stocks we added to many of these surplus rifles and it made them much lighter. Springfield and Remington surplus Model 1903s and 03A3s were very popular to sporterize due to the rifle's reputation for incredible accuracy not to mention how popular the .30-06 round had become as a hunting caliber. Refer to photos for the exact metal and wood finish condition. There is rust and wear on this rifle and the receiver has been drilled and tapped scope mounts. There is a spot of rust in the bore but the rest of the bore looks great!

<br />The Springfield 1903 was the standard issue rifle of the US military during WWI. When the US entered WWII the 1903 was replaced by the M1 Garand but 1903s were produced heavily for support units such as the artillery or snipers. Remington helped produce 1903s during the war. Many were sold as cheap surplus rifles after the war and converted into sporterized hunting rifles.
